Course Description: Chemistry is the study of matter and how matter undergoes change. In this course, students will learn about atomic structure and electron arrangement. From there, students will investigate the periodic table, periodic trends and then examine chemical bonding and learn to write the names and formulas for chemical compounds, as well as, take a look into types of chemical reactions and balancing chemical equations. In the second half of the year students will learn about stoichiometry, Gas Laws, and the chemistry of acids and bases. The class will meet for 50 minutes each day for two semesters during in-person instruction and during remote learning, students will be responsible for up to 45 minutes of work each day. Students will receive one credit toward graduation.
