Kindergarten: 

Goal/ Learning Target: I am learning to draw a bunny using line, shape and color.  I am learning to make a tint of red by mixing red and white to make pink.  

Standards Being Taught/Assessed:  VA:Cr1.1.K, VA:Cr1.2.KVA:Cr2.1.K ,  VA:Cr2.2.K

 

Instructional Activities Each Day:

Go over the learning target.  Read the story, The Night Before Valentine’s Day.  Talk about the traditions that were in the book and talk about how they are getting ready for Valentine’s Day at school.  Model for students how to draw a bunny using oil pastels.  Model how to create a tint of red by mixing red and white pastels to make pink.  Model how to draw hearts behind the bunny using pastels.  Talk about how we take care of our oil pastels and how we blend with them.  

Materials: book, The Night Before Valentine’s Day or read aloud online, white drawing paper

 

First Grade:

Goal/Learning Target:  I am learning to draw 3 dimensional conversation hearts and create tints of different colors using white paint.  

 

Standards Being Taught/Assessed:  VA:Cr1.1.3,  VA:Cr1.2.3, VA:Cr2.1.3, VA:Cr2.2.3, VA:Re7.2.3, 

 

Instructional Activities Each Day:

Go over the learning targets.  Then show students a video on Google Slides of how to draw 3D conversation hearts. Have students use black crayons to write messages on the hearts so they will still show up after they paint them.  Model how to mix white with the different colors to create tints. For example, blue + white = sky blue, red + white = pink, orange + white = peach.  

Talk about the color value scale and how you can gradually add more white and keep getting a lighter tint.  

Materials: heavy drawing paper, hearts to trace, crayons, pencils, tempera cakes or liquid tempera paint, paint brushes, cups, water

 

Fourth Grade:

 

Goal/Learning Target:  I am learning to draw 3 dimensional conversation hearts and create tints of different colors using white paint.

Instructional Activities Each Day: 

Go over the learning targets.  Show the students the Google slides about landscapes. Students will learn how to draw a foreground, middle ground and background.  Have students watch the video about beginning Google Drawings.  Then model for students how to create their own Google Drawing. Have students share their drawings with me.
