Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade

Objective/ Learning Target: I am learning to draw a monster using complimentary colors. I am learning to use the elements of line and shape.

Instructional Activities Each Day:

Introduce complimentary colors using the color wheel.  Show students video about how complimentary colors are friends on the color wheel (puppets).  Then model for students how to make their own monster using only complimentary colors.  They will also be using the elements of line and shape.  They may choose red and green only, blue and orange only or purple and yellow only.  When students finish, they can share their drawings.  

Materials: crayons, markers, drawing paper, pencils

 

Third Grade: 

Objective/Learning Target: I am learning to draw a US Flag shaped like a heart.  I am learning about why we celebrate Veterans Day on November 11.

Instructional Activities Each Day:

Go over the learning target. Show students video on slide about Veterans. The video explains what a veteran is and how we celebrate Veterans Day.  It also explains how Veterans Day was started.  Explain that I will be using their artwork to decorate the hallway for the Veterans Day Program at Clearfield and Rodburn.  Model for students how to draw a large heart.  Then model how to use a ruler to make straight lines to form the US flag.  

Materials: drawing paper, pencils, markers/ colored pencils

 

Fourth Grade

Objective/Learning Target: I am learning how to draw a soldier using the elements of line, shape, and color.

Instructional Activities Each Day:

Go over the learning target / Intention.  Then show students the video on the slide about Veterans. The video explains what a veteran is and how we celebrate Veterans Day. It also explains how VEterans Day got started.  Explain that I am going to decorate the hallway at CES and RES using their artwork for the Veterans Day Programs.  Model for students how to draw a soldier.  Students will use colored pencils for their media.

Materials: pencils, colored pencils, drawing paper

 

Fifth Grade: 

Objective/ Learning Target/Intention: I am learning to draw a helmet with poppies poster for Veterans Day. I am learning to use the elements of line, shape, texture and color.
