Parents and families, if you’re struggling with motivating your kids to work at home, you may want to consider creating them a daily schedule to follow. It is good to keep students in a routine so that they know what to expect each day and what will be expected of them. Here is a suggestion of what their daily schedule MAY look like during our NTI days (and please feel free to change this to suit whatever works best in your home). This could be hung on your refrigerator so kids can see it each day. And feel free to tell them that Mrs. O’Hair said they have to do it if they give you any trouble! Lol! 😊
7:00-8:00 Wake up! Make your bed, get dressed and have breakfast. Brush your teeth.
8:00-8:30 Do a chore to help around your house
8:30-10:00 School work- complete some pages in your NTI packet. Choose a “work space” and use it each day to sit down and do your work- the kitchen table or a desk, for example. Take a 5 minute break every 30 min.
10:00-11:00 Work on an internet site or app:
Monday- Raz Kids
Tuesday- Splash Math
Wednesday- Teach Your Monster to Read
Thursday- Brain Pop Jr. - Science, Social Studies, Health, (or other choice) video and quiz
Friday- “Fun Friday” choice
11:00-1:00- Lunch, “Recess” Play outside, find a way to exercise (one of Mrs. DeHart’s activities)
1:00-2:00 Read, write or draw quietly by yourself (I will give an optional writing prompt each day if you want your child to respond- they can even take a picture and send it to me or share it with me in a video)
3:00-4:00 Have a snack. Watch an educational video- Mystery Science, PBS Kids, Brain POP Jr, Virtual Field Trip (Scholastic Cincinnati Zoo, etc.)
