We have officially put in a full week of first grade! The boys are girls have worked so hard this week and we are establishing a routine.
Thank you to all the families who have sent in school supplies. We will certainly put them to good use!
If you have not sent in $10.50 to pay for your child's agenda book and Scholastic News subscription, please do so as soon as possible. If you need assistance with this expense or with purchasing school supplies, please let me know.
Mrs. Banks is working on the morning and afternoon traffic flow. Please be patient while procedures are being tweaked. The safety of the children is our top priority. Children are encouraged to ride the bus to and from school if at all possible.
Be sure to check your child's FURRY FRIENDS binder each night and initial. Any bus or pick up notes, doctor excuses and money need to go in the zipper pouch of your child's binder. This is where I will look for these important items.
Students who had a total of at least 20 DoJo points got to eat in the room today. I’m so happy to say that we all had our points this week!!
Please take a few minutes each evening to ask your child about their day. Praise their good behavior and discuss the importance of following school rules. I have explained to the class that no one is perfect and from time to time we all make mistakes or have a bad day.
Next week students that have not had to move their clip all week will receive a CHAMP card. We may also receive a CHAMMP card for being caught using our 7 Habits. CHAMP cards are turned in to the office and students will receive a coupon for a free treat from a local restaurant!
Please be sure to pack a snack for your child every day. We eat lunch at 10:25 and our bellies are growling by 2:30!
This week and next week, our focus is learning procedures and routines. The boys and girls are settling in nicely. We are also doing some review of skills from last year and some beginning of the year assessments. We have been learning about reading and discussing The 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey. This is a program that all classes at McBrayer Use. The Seven Habits are:
Habit 1-Be Proactive (I’m in Charge of Me)
Habit 2-Begin with the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit 3-Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
Habit 4-Think Win-Win (I Win, You Win, We Win)
Habit 5-Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
Habit 6-Synergize (Together is Better)
Habit 7-Sharpen the Saw (I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting rest. I spend time with family and friends. I help people).
Have a nice weekend! The boys and girls have certainly worked hard this week!
