Hello! My name is Niki Cornett.
Welcome to my page!
A Little About Me
I am a 2001 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School!! I graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics in 2009. I earned my Masters Degree as a Reading Specialist from The University of the Cumberlands in 2012 and I am currently working on my Rank 1 as a Supervisor of Instruction and will hopefully graduate in December.
This is my 13th year as a teacher. I taught for 5 years in Bath County where I taught 3rd, 2nd and Kindergarten. I am a Viking and I bleed that beautiful Kelly Green- so I was happy to come home. I taught 3rd for a year and 4th grade for 6 years here at McBrayer and I am so excited to be back in Kindergarten this year. I love to serve the community through education in Rowan County!
I currently teach as an adjunct professor at KCU where I teach a Math Methods course (I teach future teachers how to teach math).
I live in Morehead and have been married to Jonathan Cornett for 14 years. He is also a RC Alum and is a social worker in Rowan County; saving the world in Adult Protection Services. We have two sons: Matthew is 10-years-old and is in 5th grade. Jacob is 7-years-old is in 2nd grade. We have a big dog named Saydee and a little dog named Lennon and last year we added a golden retriever to the mix and his name is Midas.
I enjoy taking pictures and baking. I love to Pinterest and pretend like I am a crafty DIY-er but I rarely do anything I pin as it may result in a huge disaster. I love coffee, FRIENDS the TV show, and any show about organization or documentaries on Netflix.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year! Prepare to see lots of growth. <3
