Town Hall Meeting set for October 10, 2017, 6 PM at Rodburn Elementary School gymnasium
Kentucky is laying the preliminary groundwork to transition to state’s new accountability system over the next two years. School districts across the Commonwealth are already seeing changes in the 2016-2017 accountability scores for KPREP or Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress.
The Rowan County Board of Education will accept sealed bids for surplus property until Monday, October 16, 2017 at 1 p.m.
The following dates and times are set for orientation of the following grades.
12th Grade– July 31st – 5:00-7:00
11th Grade– August 1st – 5:00-7:00
10th Grade– August 2nd – 5:00-7:00
9th Grade – August 3rd – 5:00-7:00
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Coach Keith Prater, who lost a courageous battle against leukemia. It can truly be said that he waged this battle the way he lived his life -- with dignity, with strength and with an unwavering faith. He will be missed and fondly remembered by so many people in this community and beyond.

The Rowan County Schools Transportation Department was awarded the Gold Safety Award, a national award presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance in recognition of their dramatic improvements in safety during the 2016-2017 school year.

The Excellence in Teaching Awards are presented annually by Campbellsville University. White, Diedrichsen and Stafford were three of the 190 teachers that were recognized.

District saves almost $560,000 to date
The 16th Region Cheerleading Champions of McBrayer clinched the 3rd Runner up Title at the State KAPOS Cheerleading Championship on Saturday December 16th at All Tech Arena.
Keith Prater's dedication to the game of baseball and to his players will be honored by the Cincinnati Reds on September 23, 2017.
On Saturday, December 16, the Rowan County Middle School cheerleaders traveled to the Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY to compete in the KAPOS Elementary and Middle School State cheerleading championship.
This initiative will help children from preschool through 5th grade learn about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Even though it was a cold and snowy day in Lexington, KY the Viking varsity cheerleaders were on FIRE Saturday in Alltech Arena as they WOW’d the crowd and captured an amazing FIFTH place finish at the 2017 KHSAA State Competitive cheer competition!
On Sunday Nov. 19 the McBrayer Cheerleaders won the Large Elementary Division of the KAPOS Competition.
They will advance to State on December 16th at Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY.
On Sunday, November 19th the Rowan County Middle School Cheerleaders won the small division of the K.A.P.O.S. Cheerleading Competition. They will advance to the state competition on December 16th at Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY.
As part of Rowan County’s elementary curriculum which is based on state and national health standards, “Students will demonstrate an understanding of the use and misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.” Our elementary physical education teachers have been teaching the Too Good for Drugs lessons for several years.
Too Good for Drugs, is a prevention program designed to reduce the risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. The program introduces and develops social and emotional skills for making healthy choices, building positive friendships, communicating effectively, and resisting peer pressure.
