St. Claire Regional will be offering free social skill builder camps this summer to help children ages 2-10 improve their social skills. SCR's licensed occupational therapists Amber O'Neal and Beth Reynolds will help with initiating and maintaining conversations; turn taking; self awareness and self regulation; body language and nonverbal communication; safety awareness and physical boundaries; listening, paying attention, and following directions; expressing wants, needs, and emotions; and more.
The first camp will be June 19-22, 2017, with 2 and 3 year olds attending the morning session from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 4 and 5 year olds in the evening session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The second camp will be July 10-13, 2017, with 6 and 7 year olds attending from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 8, 9, and 10 year olds from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Each day will be a fun new theme like The Rainforest, Under the Sea, The Zoo, and Dr. Seuss. Camps will be held in the Center for Health, Education and Research located at 316 West Second Street accross from the medical center. Snacks will be provided in each session.
